Just got my 2nd HIS 6950 to go with my first for xfire, will be the first time ive ever done it but was wondering is it worth flashing both of the cards to 6970's or leave them as 6950's and OC them a little (never OC'd any of my gfx cards always left them at stock), or 3rd option is flash them to 6970's and OC them.
 
Just OC them. You have nothing to lose by flashing them but a shader unlock would be the best IMO.

Two 6950's are already beastly. By flashing them you won't see that much of a difference

That's not true, just that the 1GB cards were more likely to have a non-flashable core. There have been a fair number that have unlocked fine though. You're only unlocking the shaders, which has nothing to do with the memory. You do have to flash a modified 1GB BIOS though, rather than a 2GB.
