I've got a single Leadtek 7800GTX right now (had for about 1year) and had been planning to go SLI in the future.

Question is, do I find a 2nd Leadtek 7800GTX or plump with something new?

Rest of my rig:

3700+ (planning to go X2 4400+ minimum soon)
Asus A8N-SLI Premium
2gb PC3200 Corsair
Leadtek 7800GTX
580W SLI Tagan

Everything is pretty much at stock (slight O/C).

You should get somewhere around the 11k mark with SLI 7800 GTX, so about the same as a 7900 GTX. Suppose it depends how much you will get for your current card and how much you will get a second one for. If its over £150 it will be cheaper to sell it and get a x1900 or something. If they are less than that then get another one.

Or get another one anyway so you can show off your SLI system to your friends :D

Is your power supply up to the job?

I got 13000 in 05 with 2 gtx's. now ive sold them and bought some 7900gts, which overclock to 7900gtx speeds. this cost me £30 each card to do this as you gan sell a 7800gtx for the same price you can buy a 7900gt for.

I get over 12K with a single 7900 GTX so I would dell your 7800 GTX at auction and put the money towards a single 7900 GTX.

This will probaly cost you the same.
With the option of getting another down the line making your transition to DX 10 smoother still.

I could probably wait until Vista's launch and then make the changes (though I would loose some re-sale value on the 7800GTX - might pass it down to my bro's system and just re-build for myself).

Better to wait for now, another graphic card will only help if you have a huge moniter. The CPU will probably restict it until it gets changed
