2nd card not detected

Hi all, I've just added an ati x300 in a second pci express slot along side my 1900XTX but windows doesn't seem to detect the x300. I need it as I'm running 3 monitors, I've tried both the second and third slots in my Asus P5Q-E but both seem to have the same deadness. Can anyone help?

just a guess but is the x300 even crossfire compatible ?

I'm not using it for crossfire its just a standalone second card for more monitor outputs, or does it have to be?

it doesnt not have to be CF compatable.

does the x300 work on its own?

im a big noob yeah, but i thought the only way you could run dual cards in most setups are crossfire / Sli

Yes the X300 does work on its own so its not the card, does no one else have this kind of setup?

I think I may have found the issue, the X300 works fine in the first pci express but when I put its on its own in the second slot down it doesn't work at all, now I've just tested my 1900 in the second slot on its own and it works fine. I have no idea why this is the case, are there any known issues running graphics cards in the second PCI express slot?
