Hi gents. I'm not too well versed in roadworks.org and Openreach's job sheet terminology... Does the below info from roadworks.org mean (in short) a 2nd FTTC cab is being installed for capacity issues?

Another cab has just been installed last week. So I now have a PCP cab, original FTTC cab and now a slightly larger FTTC cab 2 I think? I was really hoping it was something for the future to get FTTP or for vectoring! :p

I presume it's for capacity, I live in a new build estate, final phase has finished now. But the last 6 months at least our area shows as 'waiting list' for anyone wanting to make an FTTC order. The odd day (blue moon) it does show 'available'.. I just about managed to place an order to migrate from Sky fibre to BT successfully recently. Despite already being on fibre since we had the first cab installed (Nov'14) you couldn't order and migrate to another fibre product. :p

Been doing some reading (here) looks like my original cab is the Huawei H200, which can have up to 288 active ports.

The new cab is a newer model Huawei H384HD which can handle a further 384 ports/customers!

Strange as that seems like overkill now, I'm sure there is only about 300ish houses in the estate. Unless the cab plans to service some more new homes in a few years opposite our plot of land...

More than likely.

Unlikely to handle the maximum amount of lines from day one. OR will install extra line cards as the cab fills up.

They installed a second cab at the end of our road as well. I was transferring to Plusnet and had an issue so they moved my connection from port 1 on the old cap, (we were the first customer connected To the cap when it was installed) to port 1 in the new cab... even the Openreach engineer commented...

Given we are the furthest cab on our exchange and behind where it is installed is fields... I have no idea why they did it. There is only about 500 houses in our village and we have 4 cabs... Guess the rural broadband government money must have needed to be spent this year...

Well they've tidied the area up and left a day or so ago now, BT checker still says waiting list for my estate though.. For anyone wanting to make a new order lol.

@Strudders I was also thinking I'd love to be moved to the new empty cab!!

I was one of, if not the first FTTC customer in my estate. The day I went live I had the full 80/20 sync, then over the first few months it dropped due to crosstalk. Now the last 1.5 years I've had a constant 60/18 sync...
