Got my 2nd msi r9 270x 4gb card back from msi last week after I had to rma it due to one of the fans that had stopped spinning ..

I have put the card back in my computer and it's getting higher temps then the 1st card ?? Under load the fans have to go up to 75% to keep the card at 80 degrees and that's only after a few benchmarks too where as the top card doesn't go above 60 with same fan curve ..

What should I do ? Just leave it ? Before I sent it back was same as top card never went above 60 degrees :S

Well it's the same card that has come back from rma and before it went both cards were same running at like 60 ish degrees under load ? My case is the antec 902 so got plenty of fans :)

There isn't much difference when idle maybe 2 degrees , but under load it can be like 15-20 difference , you guys think I should try re-applying the paste or just keep my eye on it ? Because 80 degrees is ok isn't it ? Just seemed strange that it would come back and run a lot hotter then it used to :(

If your really worried about the temps, then go for the thermal paste change. If your worried about how to remove the cooler, or need some advice look on youtube or send me a trust message. :)

When I did my GPU's it was after playing Titanfall, and the top GPU scared the crap out of me, as it roared like a boss. this was around 11pm, I took both GPU's apart, and had them up and running before 12am, running a benchmark to make sure temps where in check.
To be honest, the hardest part, is actually getting the PCB to come off the heatsink from the bond of the old thermal paste.

Ah cheers :) ... Not sure what to do might just keep my eye on it and see if it gets any hotter I don't know haha, will probably order some thermal paste soon though and the cleaner stuff so I have it to hand

I don't think it would compromise my warranty as msi sent the card back, and that little screw on the back with the warranty sticker on has been pierced with a screwdriver
