I've got a sky dish on the side of my house that isn't being used and it's pretty much on the outside of my bedroom wall. If I get a Sky STB from somewhere to wire up to it, should I look out for any specific brand or anything?

I'd like to terminate the coax from the dish into a wall socket in my bedroom (which I will need to buy). Will this be OK?

You should be ok to use any sky box with that dish so long as the wiring is fine.

In fact i have my old pace skydigibox here with a remote if you are looking to get it up and running. ;)

If you add a face plate in your room it will degrade the signal, however I appreciate that they do look nicer.

Panasonic TU-DSB30 are a good buy second hand

Newer ones like the Pace DS430N are also available cheaply.

An outlet plate is a good idea, but make sure it is a fully screened F-type.

I don't know if you have had many customers with problematic DSB-30's carpmaster?

Since the software update there is definately a problem with BBC1 ONLY?!?
There is a company which produce a device to rectify the issue for around £10.

Also, I have had loads fail, including the parents own box, since the big EPG update a few months back.

It's a shame as they were responsive boxes with excellent picture quality.

Also, the Pace 430, I don't think they are made anymore. However, you should be able to find somebody with some in stock. Very fast boxes and they are also quite stylish. RGB output is not the best but overall good boxes.

Any idea what these new amstrad things are like with the fancy fronts?
