Hey guys, just installed XP on my newly built PC.

I have 2 SATA Seagate 320gb drives installed.

Both drives show in BIOS fine although in Disk Management I only have 1 drive (it's currently showing up at smaller than it should be but I'm downloading the service packs which should sort that out?)

Will the service packs make the other HDD show up too? If not how do I get it to show?

Thanks chaps :)

Uh okay, SP2 is installed, however the drive is still showing as 127gb.

I've searched the HD forum and this forum although all solutions don't seem to be able to work.

For example I've read that in disk management you can right click on the unallocated space and click format, well there is no format option, just 'new partion' and 'properties'.

Help :(

yes drop the partiton and make it again then format it.
you should see the full drive then

highlight the partition in Disk Management then you will see the option
in the menu. but the only problem you will have if you runing windows
on it is you cant delete the drive partition.

make sure the drive partition isn't in use. if you have windows install on the drive the only way around it is to do a fresh install of windows then when you are prompted. it will give you the option to delete the partition.

You can't delete the 127Gb partition because it has Windows on it.

You can however

1) Create and format a new partition in the free space
2) Use Partition Magic to extend the partition
3) I *think* if you convert the disk to a dynamic one you can extend the partition within Disk Management but I've never done it myself.
4) Slipstream SP2 into your windows install and reinstall from scratch.

As for the other drive not being detected I'm not sure, have you loaded all the drivers for your SATA controllers?
