*** 2nd March - Apple Event - Official Thread ***

Seriously, unless you are a die hard fan and wanted to chat to other Apple fans then go queue. Pre-order means you will get it after everyone else. The store seems to get stock delivered on a regular basis (everyday), and at MOST, you can reserve them and pick it up when its your turn on the waiting list. That's what happened with the iPhone 4.

if you had lost your smart phone would you be without a smart phone untill june and get the Iphone5 or would you get iphone4 now and sale it if needed when iphone5 comes out. depending what it offers.

Looking at Apple iPhone 4 16GB Black on Vodafone
12 month 300
12-month contract
300 minutes and Unlimited texts
£189
£35

Although saying that if you go to checkout the monthly price shoots upto £45.

If it was me - I do go back to using my old G1 (which I keep as spare) and wait to see what comes out in the summer. This would apply even more if I was considering the iPhone as you know a new one will be out later in the year.

I'd get the iPhone 4. However I think the best deal is The One Plan on Three -

iPhone 4
32GB Black
24 months
£35 a month
Plus £159 upfront cost
Includes:

* 2000 any network minutes
* 5000 texts
* 5000 Three-to-Three minutes
* All-you-can-eat Data

Then, if you want an iPhone 5, sell it and buy an unlocked iPhone 5 from Apple, and keep a VERY decent contract. If you dont need a 32GB model and get the 16, the price goes down further.

There are other deals but Three seem to be the best overall at the moment unless you have some sort of network discount.

I will only get a 12month contract, either that or buy a phone out right and get a sim only 30day contract.
And want vodafone, my mates on vodafone and gets reception everywhere compared the the rest of us. Even got 3g reception inside a tunnel.
TBh all I need is 100mins and 200 texts a month, although more than 500mb would be useful.

Well I suppose that deal will be fine for you if you need to be on Vodafone.

It is a shame they (and other networks) wont offer over 500mb data on most deals in this day and age :(

You cant fault Three on that front though, I think they are the only network where iPhone 4's have hotspot enabled if you are on The One Plan too (for tethering to iPad).

Yep, 500MB caps suck. You'll really need more than that if your planning on streaming any content.

Don't forget quidco or similar.

Best vodafone deal I can see is the sim only iPhone £20pm/12 months + £100 cashback from quidco. Then get the cheapest 16gb model you can find. That'll save you ~£50 and will give you 1GB pm to play with.

Thanks, what is the cheapest sim free you can get? any good deals for the phone itself on quidco?

Talk to me about tethering, how much does that cost?
Or is it better to get something can;t remember what it's called is it mi-fi?
Or best to get 3g ipad and get a seprate sim contract.

Most versatile way is get the iPad from Apple, then get a 3 sim PAYG from amazon for £7 that gives you 3 gig over 3 months to start off with to see how much data you use.

Built in 3G is so much more convenient thn the mifi.

don't forget £106 cashback on the one plan too from quidco

wow that's good value.

Do we know uk price for 32gb 3g ipad2?

Also does this look like the best deal to everyone?
iphone 4g 16gb for £430 new through amazon seller
£20 per month, 300 minutes, Unlimited texts, 1024MB 30day contract
£45 quidco for vodafone 30day contract £20+

Or
iphone 4g 16gb for £430 new through amazon seller
£20 per month, 600 minutes, Unlimited texts, 1024MB, 365day contract
£100 quidco for vodafone 365day contract £20 tariff.

That is a great deal I must admit.

I've never used Quidco though, I've made an account and if I click on 'Get Cashback ->' it just redirects me to the Three site, how exactly does it work from there? :p

it tracks your cookies. it's great I haven;t made a lot compared to others. but about £30 from just ebay and justeat. Insurance, phones, loans, hollidays is where you can save a lot.

Ah ok, interesting. I might actually get that as I've given my iPhone 4 to my old man and I want one back to tide me over until the iPhone 5, and that Three tariff is just superb.

I'm getting REALLY tempted to buy the iPad 2 when it comes out, but I really don't need it!

I have a 13" MBP (2010) and an iPhone, but I like the idea of just sitting here browsing with a tablet.... dam apple advertising :(

That's not advertising, it's a legitimate use. As I've said I've wanted a tablet for 4+ years well before apple thought of it.
I even purchased a pda, but it was to small and sloppy.
It depends what you do for me given the option the desktop is hardly ever used. would rather sit in lounge/bed and bbrowse on a phone, let alone a tablet.
