Hi All,

I'm in the look out for a 2nd monitor and was wondering what would be the best choice.

I'm thinking on an actual Hd tv or a TFT panel. I do not play games and this is only for music production.

I would like a tv in the studio in case i get bored and i can watch it. But would i notice a difference in either setup. Especially if it was in HD. Or would the be almost the same. i know the refresh rate is only 60hz in a tv. But as i said it's only for music production.

thanks

I'd just get a proper monitor. Monitors may not have sound outputs, and of course no TV tuner, but if it's just acting as a monitor feeding off a computer TV card, monitors have on general sharper, clearer image.

There's basically two problems with using a TV as a monitor.
1) Input lag
B) Chroma subsampling

The first isn't much a problem for what you're planning to do with it. The second might be, the AVS forums chroma subsampling thread is worth a read. It's quite hard to find a television that doesn't do chroma subsampling however as information is scarce and the information that can be found is usually about the US model of a TV.
