I've got a spare little monitor (just 720p) and was thinking it might be good to have a game on the main screen and control stuff like music etc on the other, without having to shut the game down or pause it.
I don't mind having a second keyboard and mouse for the 2nd screen if that's doable, I have a compact keyboard and a trackpad I could use

Is this possible and how do I set that up?
I know about "extend display" etc in Windows but that'd still mean alt+tab out of the game window wouldn't it?

On windows, unless you have a keyboard that supports macros it isn't possible to control anything whilst a game is in full screen, you would need to have it windowed or alt tab out as you mentioned.

The alternative would be if your phone supported it, to have Spotify controllers or something similar for the specific applications you want to run out with the game you are playing.

Not a major issue, if you want to run multiple monitors, go for it, as the benefits outweigh the concerns, but be prepared to mess about with settings for the proposal you just mentioned :)

I have four monitors, but y keyboard allows for application key assignment, so I have a game open but can control music external of that game etc
