Hi, I have
TeamGroup Delta RGB 32GB (2X16GB) DDR5

PC5-44800C30 6000MHz Dual Channel Kit

in a
Asus ROG Strix B650-A Gaming WIFI (Socket AM5)

DDR5 ATX Motherboard

Everything was fine until a couple of months ago, first one stick of ram failed and then the second. These were RMAd and replaced.

Again everything fine for a while and then one stick of ram failed and then the other.

Won't boot with either stick in any slot, have reset CMOs etc.

Went through exactly the same process with OcUK for RMA and the symptoms are identical this time.

Is this just dumb bad lack? Is this something potentially wrong with mobo or PSU causing an issue (there doesn't seem to be any issue elsehwere in the system)

I will contact OcUK for an RMA but any tips would be great. thanks

Sounds like it could be your cpu to blame, very very odd for 2 sets of ram to fail in the same way, the memory is controlled via the cpu's IMC so if thats not working right no amout of kits you use will work right at expo speeds, default speed of 4800mhz may be a diffrent story, which cpu are you running?

would it work fine for a period and then stop though if the CPU. both sets have been fine until they weren't.

official ram support is 5200mhz for x3d, if you get a good chip 5600mhz ddr5 may be possible, i would look at a clear cmos and see if you can boot, if so set 5200mhz and see if it works with your ram or replacment sets.
i've cleared cmos and tried to restart but won't post. i'll give that another shot with both sticks separately. then may be get a bigger set of slower ram

if you still cant boot after a cmos clear, then take the cpu out and reinstall, it should fool the board in thinking a new cpu is installed, then you can hopefully boot and set expo at 5200mhz and see if it works
do i need to power it up with the cpu out for it to realise that it has been taken out?

shouldn't have to as long as the cpu is out of the socket, place it back and the board should show at post screen with "new cpu installed enter setup" message
when i cleaned my loop and took my 7950x out to clean and repaste, i got new cpu installed even though i haddent changed anything, luckly all my settings were saved when i got to the bios, exited and back into windows.

when you have the cpu out, just give it a quick look over and check theres nothing bulged where the gold pads are on the reverse of the cpu, give the socket a look over too and check for any dips, dont want to worry you but with all the issues surronding x3d before the bios updates, its best to check.

do you know what kind of SOC voltages you were running before the problems started?
thank you will try that

re voltages i think just on auto, i haven't got around to much fiddling yet

Have just ordered some replacement ram. I will do the RMA and sell that set but need to get up and running after being away.

The ram I have ordered is AMD Expo compatible. If my bios and drivers are up to date should I be alright using Expo or still cautious?

I will check the processor before I rebuild.

Cheers

if all your drivers are upto date and your bios too then you'll be fine to run expo, in the bios set expo I as that will adjust the primary timings of the ram, expo II will do the primary and will adjust some secondary timings, but to play it safe use expo I, which ram have you ordered btw?
thanks v much:

Kingston FURY Beast White RGB EXPO 64GB 5200MT/s DDR5

Not strictly true, even with everything up to date some motherboard still dump too much voltage into ram.

I have expo set but I also manually set voltages and cheacked them in bios and programs don’t just trust the number you set in bios
righto, i will double check

Thanks for the help guys

Bios is updated and chipset drivers etc.

I then used Expo and it looks correct.

I ran 4 cycles on memtest and no errors and temps stayed around the 40s

All look ok?

They look OK but you can get more out of them if your prepared to play. You got lucky and dropped on some Hynix A-Die so they will go much tighter and higher. 6000 should work OK with your loose settings. Set VSOC to 1.2 - 1.3, try 1.2 first and run your tests.

Have a look at my post, the first set of setting should run OK, don't try the last. You should run at 6000. Use your BIOS profiles for testing.

It should be noted that above 6000 gains are marginal on X3D chips. Have a look for ZenTimings

Be prepared to clear cmos and reload your bios settings if the settings don't take. Hence save to your profiles.

Post
cool, thanks will have a look over weekend
