After waiting 3 weeks for a new Xbox to be delivered, it came two days ago and today started crashing on all games.

Happy days, guess i'll ring up MS again tommorow and wait another month before I can actually play any of these games i've bought

Does anyone know where you can buy power supplys? I think that may be the problem.

Hmmm I havn't looked for PSU's but I may have a gander now.

I received my third one minus its PSU and I have now been waiting 2 weeks for the psu itself to arrive. Spoken to 3 different people who have said they will get one in the post for me so hopefully I will get three lol.

I goto say i not got much hope for my 360 being around this time next year.

Oops deleted, just remembered i wasn't going to mention anything about the failures anymore, sorry everyone. :)

For those that are having problems exactly how long are you playing on the per day? I ask as i wonder what causes it. I have had mine a while and never a single crash but i only play about an hour per time max.

OP...did you have it plugged directly into the wall, or were you using a surge protected 4 way extension for example?

Dont send your power supply back you wait an eternity for it to come well i did. :(

And after all it wasnt my power supply what was at fault it was the console i should have tried a friends earlier.

I think after all i have a dodgy 4 way surge protector plug so its in the other one now and everytime i turn off console i take plug out.

You shouldnt have to do that, you certainly shouldnt HAVE to have a surge protector, what a joke. I refuse to put mine on anyhting like that.

don't come crying to me when a voltage spike knocks it out then!

i have near enough everything in my house on a surge protector. especially my pc and all it's extras, 360, gamecube, tv's, hi-fi, dvd, video etc.

it's just common sense imo

Indeed you might think will never happen but it could do :)

What a load of rubbish, he may live in a newly built house with trip switches, mine trips with a lightbulb going let alone a power surge. If microsoft built a console that breaks before a fuse then they are in serious trouble because if you have ever been abroad apart from the usa you will know how 'dodgy' some countries electrics are. They would be returning them every day.

People are clutching at straws, do you really think if there was a power surge the only item to die would be a 360. Stroke of bad luck that he had it on the moment he had a power surge.

The only person ive ever known in my life that lost electrical items due to a power surge is a workmate whose house got struck by lightening.

If the 360 is so delicate it should say in the manual requires a surge protector.

I think its far more likely that the power bricks are rubbish causing problems which a surge protector wont help.

Entirely up to you, but i wont put my 360 on a surge protector purely because they may experience a power spike. I have home insurance for that.

Do you honestly think any more than 1% of 360 owners have their console on a surge protector. Its just madness. I have never had a problem with any electrical equipment in 7 years without surge protectors and I certainly wont be installing £25 worth of plugs and sockets just to stop a piece of equipment from locking up that should work under any circumstance.

This is a worldwide product, if they required surge protectors it would HAVE to be clearly labelled on the box.

Surge Protectors are a waste of time. How often has you neighbourhood had a massive electrical spike? Its just another way of people selling you products that you dont need.

Got mine in a surge protector, had a few scares with my PC restarting when it's been thundering and lightning a few times, so got one, was lucky it just reset. :)

Aye. Don't blame you loadsamoney. I have a mate who's entire pc was knocked out by a lightning strike, when he was at work. his system was switched off, although still plugged into the wall. that same strike knocked out my modem, which i happened to be using at the time as I had a day off. I was lucky that was all I lost.

I'd just rather have surge protectors than not, so quite why a couple of people are having a go at me because I've made that choice I don't know and on top of that, I asked the OP a perfectly legit question. I've not once said you HAVE to have a surge protector, merely stated that I use one and asked if the original poster used one or not because an unstable electrical current MAY have damaged his 360(s) however unlikely.

Yeah you can't be to carefull, what if theres thunder + lightning, and your electricity goes off, can you imagine the surge when it comes back on.

If there's a big storm I unplug virtually everything except the fridge, freezer and alarm clock! and i'll log off the internet and shut down the pc if i'm using it too until the storm has passed. I'll only do that if it's a biggy mind. I don't frantically run round the house unplugging all and sundry at the first rumble!

I've got mine on a surge protector... but then again i've got over a grand's worth of stuff going into that extension lead so thought it was worth the investment :p

I just brought an xbox360 but its broke before I even had a chance to have a go, reads the disks but wont play games (says please insert into an xbox 360, 'erm you are an xbox360') and messes up dvd playback. No red lights and no error message, appears fine apart from that.
Think support will let me return it ok ?
