If you bought it in a bricks-and-mortar store, just take it back to them for replacement. If they don't have any in store, get a refund. I'm not sure how things work your side of the pond, but over here the consumer is very well protected

Do you honestly think any more than 1% of 360 owners have their console on a surge protector. Its just madness. I have never had a problem with any electrical equipment in 7 years without surge protectors and I certainly wont be installing £25 worth of plugs and sockets

I dont know what the power in your house is like over on the other side of the lake, but here we generally have around 10 different devices plugged in around our tv, and that is usually on either 2 or 4 sockets. Any outlet strip you buy anymore has a certain amount of surge protection. So, I would guess almost 50 percent (being conservative, some people may just use the wall connection thinking it is more inportant) use a surge protector.

The only person ive ever known in my life that lost electrical items due to a power surge is a workmate whose house got struck by lightening.

But I guess we lose stuff here due to lightning at a faster rate. Almost a quarter of the people I know have lost something or other, tvs, routers, ethernet cards, just about anything.

Just to answer, my first console was DOA, my second I played perhaps an hour to 2 hours max at a time. Died after a month.

The problem is they may be 'dying' due to a minor issue that could be fixed if you could open the side (lose connection etc) or they could be dying due to a major reason.

Also I have my pc, my mums pc, my laptop and my TV/360 setup all plugged into Surge protectors. Can't be too careful.
