My current 2nd rig is an AMD 3700 with 2Gb ram and an AGP x800XTPE i'm thinking of bringing this up to a core 2 duo rig so i have spares i can swap around with my main rig(in sig). Do you guys think i will notice much improvement with the gear listed below ?

Asrock 4CoreDual-SATA2 (Socket 775) PCI-Express/AGP DDR2 = £43.46
Core 2 Duo E2140 "LGA775 Conroe" 1.60GHz (800FSB) - Retail = £43.46
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775) = £17.61

vat and shipping bring the total to: £114.73

It's going to depend what you do on the PC.

EDIT: I should add those graphs are at stock speed.

It would be a significant improvement, methinks. Overclocking is where the E21xx series really shine but that won't be happening with that motherboard. It is, however, pretty much your only option if you want to use your AGP graphics card.

will i be able to clock the processor on its own on this board ? i'm thinking its not gona be worth it unless i either a) get a faster processor or b) can clock this one on that board... mostly going to be gaming on it.

Whoops, my bad. I should've known that. Anyway, no, this board isn't any good whatsoever for overclocking. In that interest you might consider an E2180 instead due to its higher clock speed despite its still-low price.

I have seen them clocked to 350fsb so that will give you an impoved clock.

you thought about a 2180?? with its 10x multi, you could prob easily get 3ghz

OR i could....
