1T is better, but you willl not notice the difference. Maybe a slightly lower score is say 3dmark, but really not much of a difference. If you are running 4 sticks it will automatically run in 2T.
1T gives big gains in benchmarks but can really cause stability problems is Your system is on the edge
If it's the Geil ddr2 stuff...I was not that impressed with it but I doubt it's faulty increasing the memory can just take a system over the stability edge..
