Im thinking of getting the 1Tb ver, whats the transfer speed like, will there be a loss in performance if you install games on them?

im thinking of getting two of these to keep all my media on, just hoping that some other companies release similar products so theirs a bit more choice. gonna wait for reviews first though.

We were supposed to be getting our first batch this week but WD failed to deliver again 
Their availability at the moment is a joke and it means we're having to pay over the odds on certain drives to get allocation (WD 1TB Blacks are the biggest joke of all). We should be getting some this week but most of what we are being promised is already sold. We've got about 6 left for new orders. We should then be restocked the following week later but I'm being told by WD there will be no discount on this drive for quite a while.
Price had gone up due to the dollar rate heading southwards again. When we set the original pre-order price it was based on around a $1.50 rate. Dollar has improved this week so should be looking to bring the price back down on Monday.
As for being the 1st 500GB/per platter drive, originally they were going to be but Seagate managed to relase the 7200.12 500GB first.
It's all good and well releasing the first drive with 500GB configuration but if you've got no stock to back it up with then it's a complete waste of time.

You will only have to pay what you originally paid. If we end up dropping the price further due to the slightly increasing dollar then we'll refund the difference.
