has anyone got this to work successfully?

il be getting 2x Netgear R7000 Wireless routers for home (leaving on stock firmware initially)

One will be my main router and other an AP only on other side of the house (cabled in)

is it just a case of setting the same SSID/key on both (and different channels) ?

will a smart phone or tablet for example switch between them seamlessly?

Yep mine work ok doing this. The only issue is when device is to "Clingy" and holds onto the other AP even when signal is non existent.

I used to get that problem a lot. For some reason even when I'm in the room right next to the main router, my phone prefers to connect to the second router (which is at the other end of the house) and has a much weaker signal! In the end I had to use separate names because I'd keep getting a weak signal.

If anyone knows how to resolve this I'd be interested to hear. Tried a few tweaks but could never get it work

First R7000 arrived, setup as main router - what a beast!

awaiting Second R7000 to arrive but have set my current DLink DIR-615 to same SSID and password and seems to be switching over fine

I didn't read this properly before, you don't need 2x routers. 1 router and 1 access point is what you want..

It is possible to use 2x routers, but you're wasting a ton of money doing it that way!

Not used it myself, but the WAC120-100UKS looks to have the same styling as your current router. Connect it up via ethernet.

Thanks mate.

Quick question about channels

I have my 2.4ghz on channel 1 and 11 (two ap)

On my 5ghz channel both ap set to channel 44. Is this right or do I have to make them different?
