2x GTX 570 vs 480

GTX 570 is slightly faster than a 480 and obviously it's second gen of fermi so has lower heat, better cooling and lower power consumption.

As that's a reference 480 listed I would go with the 570's myself. All benches I've seen so far put them at the same performance though supposedly the 480's pull ahead when high levels of AA are applied.

The above video is a good example of how the 570s extra core clock gives it a 5% lead.

The issue is they both clock to similar levels meaning that the 480 at similar clocks is actually quicker and as it has a higher memory bit rate and more memory it also copes better with high res (2560x1600) and when AA is applied.

I myself game at 2560x1600 and the 570 runs out of Vram at the res nevermind when AA is applied.

if you game at 1920x1200 get a 570, if its higher, get the 480!

Think of the 570 as if it was the GTX275.

The GTX 470 was like the GTX260.
The GTX480 was like the GTX280
The GTX580 was like the GTX285
The GTX570 like the GTX275.

The 275 was a 260PCB with a 280 core clocked to hell and back which is why it was as fast as a gtx280 in cases, and faster in others.

The same can be said for this.

The 570 has the 470s memory interface yet a revised 480 core.

Another example of Nvidia causing a hash of things.
