Hi guys.

I was just wondering, if you want to upgrade to fit a second Xeon quad core CPUto the server board, does it have to be the same CPU as the one already there?

I have heard some servers will boot with mismatched processors, but its not a good idea, especially if there are any timing sensitive loops in the code, as if they are scheduled to a different processor, suddenly the timings go wrong.

As Daz says yes, always use the same model of processor.
