2x1 gig memory running at 333 not 400?

Hi,

Massive apologies if this is included in the FAQ at top. HAVE read it but nothing seemed to explain my problem.

Up until the other day i had 1 stick of ram, 1 gig pc3200running at 400mhz, the other day i purchased another 1 gig stick again pc3200. When my pc boots up it detects the 2 gig of ram but states that its running at 333mhz, when if i leave one stick in each one registers 400mhz.

Have changed swopping and changing which memory slots they sit it but to no avail.

Is there something very wrong here or something i need to change in BIOS??

onbaord mobo sound
160gig maxtor sata hd
windows xp pro

What is your processor core? If you whack it back up to 200 (400 DDR) in the BIOS it may fix the problem.

Oops, sorry i have an AMD XP3800+

You'll have to delve into the bios and set the memory to 400Mhz.

Just looked in BIOS, says DRAM frequency is 166, i presume this should be set to 200mhz?

Under this it has RAS latency and other technical stuff.

Yup thats the one, set it to 200mhz
