I upgraded the memory a while ago on my old GA-K8N51GMF S754 System (A64 3400, Nforce 6100 chipset) - Only now Ive noticed its running at DDR333 and it wont goto DDR400. When i take out a Dimm, and only use one, it works fine, I've swapped them around and still no luck.

It used to work fine with 1x1GB and 1x512MB, but changed them and bought a matched pair of 1GB.

I have no RAM speed option in the bios :( and i've got the latest bios.

These are standard Crucial PC3200 dimms, so pretty popular and I would have thought 100% supported.

Have you pressed CTRL-F1 at the main BIOS menu to enable the hidden options? It should show additional options for changing the memclock, CAS etc and the command rate.

Ah, that did it. I set it manually and it works.
I never knew about ctrl-f1 , I just thought this board had crappy overclocking options.

Thanks.

the 3400 is a socket 7xx (i forget) cpu i believe.

the memory controller doesnt support 2 double sided sticks at >333.

a few lucky souls can get 400 out of it with a lot of tweaking and volts but....

feel happy, twice the ram will make more difference than a bit less speed! (this is the same for my laptop)

*edit*

you got it working anyway! grats

Well thats what originally thought, but I remembered it was only 2 dimms it supports, and if you used 4, then it would bugger up and go down to 333mhz.

It says in the specs it runs 2x1GB dimms at 400mhz, and Im sure many others are.

Well I set it to 400mhz, T1 manuually before i went out this morning, and it worked ok, i'll have to test it properly tonight.
