As the title says really!

I currently have 2x2gb matched pair of Geil Black Dragon DDR2 Ram installedon my system. I can get hold of another 2gb (2x1gb) of the same brand / timings etc for dirt cheap and so was thinking of doing it for a cheap performance boost.

Question is whether or not this will work ok with my mobo?: http://abit.ws/page/en/motherboard/motherboard_detail.php@pMODEL_NAME=IX38+QuadGT&fMTYPE=LGA775&DEFTITLE=Y

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Jon

p.s. if anyone has 2x2gb of this ram knocking around from an old build please shout up as I will buy!

might do,but to get matching dim sizes might help

ive seen one user have startup issues with mixed dim sizes, not saying that will happen but worth taking note

I see no reason why it wouldn't work. All of my experiences with mixing memory have been fine, I think there is too much fuss over matching modules personally.

At one point I had a system with four sticks of DDR3, one was a 2GB 1333MHz half height Kingston, one was a 4GB 1600MHz full height Kingston, one was a 2GB 1333MHz Samsung, and one was a 4GB 1600MHz Hynix and they all ran together at 1600MHz 1.5v 9-9-9-24 :p

I agree ... *should* work providing all the RAM is the same speed.

I have the same setup a mix of different brands making up 2x2gb + 2x1gb, works fine and is recognised as dual channel interleaved
