2x970 strix or 1x980ti strix

Alright guys.

Just after some thoughts on what would be better?

I currently have 2x gtx950 strix in my pc and was considering a little upgrade.

I was wondering as the title suggests would you suggest 2x970s or 1 980ti?

I'd get the 980ti purely because it gives you the option to add another one later (assuming psu etc is ok) if you find you need more performance.
 
I'd take a single powerful card over 2 less powerful cards any day of the week. Even if the sli/crossfire solution is a little bit faster. Saves you from any dual GPU headaches and generally offers better frame time variance.

The 980ti is faster than 2 970's and will out perform it anyway, plus most are clocking to 1500core like mine.
 
My 2 x 970 were at best ~10% faster in benchmarks compared to my now 1 x 980Ti. They were hotter, used up to 200W more power and as they were using twin Forzr were definitely louder than my AIO EVGA 980Ti.

If there's a single card with similar power that's usually the better option and works at it's best more often especially on newly released titles.
