ive been playing around with the aa on my 8800gt and in cod 4 with 2x aa i have no jaggies, when i try in 4xaa the picture is just the same, but with more of a performance drop,so whats the point in having 4xaa.

It hugely depends on the game as to how much AA makes a visual difference.

2X will be enough for some games & 4X or more for others.
I would be playing GRID at 4X if my gfx cards could cope but right now i play at 30" 2560x1600 2Xaa 60FPS VSync, the replays look real if i sit back a bit as to not see the jiggles.

I agree with both the OP and Final - on COD4 there isn't much visual difference but in GRID you can definitely see the difference between 2x and 4x.

you are probably looking in the wrong places, but if you cant see the difference, then it sure aint worth it.

it depends on your resolution, at 1280x1024, you will see 4xaa, at 1650(?)+, its usually not too noticeable on some games.

Depends on the game really, i play BF2 a lot and there is a massive difference between 2x AA and 4x, but a game like GOW is fine with no AA for me.
