A mate has asked me to spec him an HTPC, unfortunately he saw BF4 on my rig and has decided he wants an HTPC that can play it. Not at full but medium details 1080p@60fps (or as close as possible).
He has his heart set on a Kaveri 7850k but looking at reviews its simply not worth the premium as it barely hits 30fps in BF4 and now hes talking about getting a discrete GPU, adding to the cost and barely any performance.
He has a budget of about £650 but this must include a Blu-Ray ReWriter (cheapest at £60), 120GB SSD, 2TB Hard Drive. OS, KB/M and Monitor not required as will be connected to a TV via HDMI.
He does want a small case which the 7850k will provide as can go MicroATX or Mini ITX but again I think its a waste he wont get much gaming performance.
Basically I need 2 specs:
1 for the budget of £650 that can game inc the bits mentioned above but the small case isn't necessary (although preferred) but otherwise just a cheap simple case.
And the 2nd spec for an HTPC preferably about £500-550 but in a nice mini ITX or micro ATX case. The extra £100 can be used but id like to show him he doesn't need to spend much just for movies/music/web browsing.
Any help appreciated.
Cheers.
