Hi there, just after some quick advise if anyone knows off the top of their heads.

I have an Asus Striker II Formula Motherboard that has a PCI-E x16 2.0 slot
My friend has a RADEON HD 7770 for sale, this uses a 3.0 PCI-E x16 slot

Will I be able to use this card in my machine straight away (obviously with a performance bottle neck due to it working in a 2.0 slot) or will I need to flash the firmware of the card to get the card to work with a 2.0 motherboard? Which obviously I would rather avoid doing if i can. (I have done this before with an old 8800GT)

Any advise is appreciated, thank you in advance! :)

yh,they are all backward compatible with 2.0 boards/pcie

you'll lose a whole 1fps from pcie 3 to pcie 2,nothing in it

might need latest mb bios not gpu,but try it first and see

There is pretty much no difference. You're looking at 1-2fps which isnt worth the worry. I'm running a 290 in a 2.0 slot as my CPU doesn't support 3.0. Got no complaints what so ever.

It's only really relevant when your board only supports x8 or x4 speeds in xfire. Then pcie3 can be a bit of a blessing.
