3.1.3 iPhone

This enables tethering on unlocked phones apparently.

This is only for those sold pre-unlocked, not for those of us on O2, who have just got their unlock apprently.

Has any one had any issues with that un-official tethering that was enabled a while ago?

My iPhone was locked to O2 previously. They officially unlocked it and Tethering is now working on 3.1.3 using T-Mobile.

You have to go to Settings -> General -> Network -> Cellular Data Network
Enter the APN, User and Pass at the bottom and then Internet Tethering will appear in Network settings. Before I put the information in, tethering was not listed.

How long did it take to apply the update? Mines been sitting for about 30mins, iPhone is showing the apply logo and a empty progress bar on it still.

Giving significantly better battery life for me on my 3G. Looks like there's no reason why it should, so I guess it's reinstalling the OS that made the difference, not the new version. Welcome all the same...

I know a few people who have used the website on this page to successfully unlock iPhone tethering on O2.

Took 3 mins to do, you don't need to be jailbroken and it shows up on my O2 bill as just regular web data usage.

It doesn't improve the battery, it improves accuracy of reported battery level on the iPhone 3GS apparently, but in fact it just sorts out a little problem with the battery percentage appearing wrong from time to time.

I used to use BenMs patch but it doesn't work with 3.1.3 on my iPhone 3GS on contract with O2?

Or is that changed now?

Doesn't work for me here.

3.1.3 on unlocked O2 iPhone 3G (Unlocked last month), still the same sim card. Going to benm.at and installing the settings does nothing. :(

Hmm...sorry guys, this was a while ago before the new firmware, so perhaps Apple have updated other stuff to prevent people using that site? It's still working for me, but I'm on 3.0 (JB). Not sure if it continued to work for my friend who is on official O2 iPhone (non JB) and updated firmware after using the above site. Will see if I can find out.
