Hi guys, could you give me any advice for a 3.1 setup. I was thinking about the Yamaha RXV481 as I don't think I will ever bother with Atmos but will probably upgrade to 5.1 sometime, 4K pass through and Bluetooth would be nice also, so this just leaves speakers and I have no idea about them so was hoping you guys would be able to help me out.

Please find attached below pictures of my setup atm and my room layout. The TV will probably be mounted on the wall at seated eye level.

It all depends what your looking for. I take it as your want to go speakers separates so it can be upgraded in time?
Do you want standmount or floor standers?
Im an advocate of floor standers however they do take up more space.
What do you intend to connect to it? is it all hdmi or do you have analog signals?

It will all be HDMI inputs and I would like separates so it's easier to upgrade. Someone on another site suggested this:

Denon x1300w £270
Monitor Audio Bronze 2 £250

But after that I don't know to go for a centre and skip the sub for now or skip the centre and get a sub. It's just we would be sitting fairly central and I've read that spending under £250 for a sub isn't worth it.

I agree sub £250 for a subwoofer isn't worth considering. Even if you buy floorstanders, you'll still need a subwoofer. I would buy the front three speakers for now, so you can get the matching set in one go. Rather than leaving the center to later than finding you cannot buy them anymore.

If you do buy standmounts, then you'll need stands.

Considering your budget, I'd buy the best standmount speakers you can afford, perhaps even buy second hand.

I've bought £5000 worth of speakers for £1000 second hand, so can get high end speakers rather than fairly ok speakers.

I have the Yamaha RXV481 and currently have Q Acoustics 2020 fronts with a 2000Ci centre. This sounded great but I added a BK Gemini sub at a later date and I'm more than happy with the overall sound now.

Monitor audio are good value for money. I recently went with a mate to buy a set of bronze 6 and they are really good. Might be worth a look to see if there is any ex demo monitor audio ones near a shop by you, that would open up more budget, i initially went two fronts and a sub then got a centre later on but on that budget deffo go the centre and two speakers first. Might be worth popping into your local audio store and just spending the day listening to different variations.

2.0 is the best way to go with this budget.

A basic avr for 5.1 - http://www.richersounds.com/product/av-receivers/denon/avrx520bt/deno-avrx520bt-blk

No frills, but you really don't need them for a basic setup.

Leaves 500 for the important bit - http://www.richersounds.com/product/floorstanders/monitor-audio/bronze-5/moni-audi-bron-5-wal

Bronze 5 are the pîck of the bunch for under 500 for me. Others to consider are QA 3020 and KEF Q500.

The matching center for the Bronze 5 is 199 as are the surrounds. Don't skimp on the sub. A cheap sub will show it's flaws very quickly.

So much this. For the money and with the intention of extending just go for 2.0 to start.

Will that Receiver definitely be able to drive those speakers hard enough? I'm not talking from a position of wisdom or experience, just that I've read that some of the lower powered AV receivers on the market can struggle to sound good out of big floorstanders.

Tip for AV receivers, look out for refurbished ones from Richersounds. I got a Denon X2000W for £105, cost me a tenner for a 6 year guarantee. They pop up every now and then.

Thanks for your input guys I eventually went for Denon 1300, Monitor audio bronze 2 and Monitor Audio Center(Recommended to me by someone from elsewhere) And I just decided to go 3.0 and upgrade later. Now what surround speakers would you guys recommend for around £250?
