3.3Ghz on 6300

if ppl r getting 3.3GHz out of an e6300 whats the point in the e6400? does it get to 3.6, cos thats e6600 territory isnt it?

not everyone is getting 3.3 and the higher multi of the 6400 might make up for some shortcomings in the mobo and RAM department if it can't clock high enough on the lower multi of the 6300 to reach a certain speed.

from what i've seen i'd take a chance on a 6300 over a 6400/6600 if on air.

they seem to be clocking just as far and obviously a lot cheaper ...but yeh need good mobo/ram.

a lot of boards need the ram to be 1:1 and not everyone has 470mhz ram so the multiplier would be usefull I guess

6400 sounds better than 6300 , why i got one All depends on your ambitions overclocking wise, and how good the rest of your system rig is.

Not everyone overclocks. Pretty much the only thing relevant here really. It's factory specced at that speed rather than you trying to make it as fast as possible.
