spec is:

DFI Lanparty NF4 Ultra-D Sli
Athlon 4800+ x2 939
2x1GB PC3200 RAM
XFX Geforce 7900GT 256MB Extreme Edition GPU
4HDD's

from off. it can take usually 3-4 attempts can be as much as 10 attempts to get the pc to boot and display somthing....

I can see the 4 red led's go from 4 to 3 and then free on 3... then if i retry by rebooting few times, eventually it will go 2 then 1 then display and im off :-)

Really annoying. THe system is also hanging randomly in windows XP pro sp2... so i think there is a problem someone and maybe these two errors or problems r related. come on guys help me out if ya can *** save me a lot of messing about!

Cheers in advance!

Matthew

the last DFI board I had (sli dr expert) was a swine for holding a static charge which made it refuse to boot time and time again, what you had to do was switch the psu off, then hold down the power button and be suprised as all the fans span up for a second or 2 with no power going into the machine.

The switch the psu back on and it normally booted fine.

The problem was so bad I gave up turning it off.

Id go with the traditional answer of:

Try using your RAM modules one at a time and check that all your expansion cards and graphics cards are seated properly.

tried both of these.. no change.

the ram passes memtest togther and individually. its new too. never been o/c'd.

any more ideas kinda desperate now.

Well if the RAM tests ok the next thing to cause random crashing would probably be the PSU, seeing as its happening pre and post windows.

Have you looked in the mobo manaul to see if the LEDs are an error display of some kind?

just got a brand new trust 520w low noise psu. same problems....

:-S its a strange crash....

it freezes the screen and the audio carries on,, then the audio trips and repeats itself.... and from there it just keeps doing it until u reboot.

:-S

Matthew.

I' got a DFI RDX200cf-dr. Their a real love/hate brand, OC like the nuts but loads of niggles. Before I updated the bios on it it would need restarting 1-9 times before it would get past the boot screen, and then it would randomly turn off when gaming amongst other problems. Flashing the BIOS got rid of a lot of these problems.
