3.40 update doesn't work

I downloaded the update 3.40 via the ps3 and tried to install it, gets stuck at 61%, tried several times, even tried pulling the plug and it still tries to update as soon as i turn it back on.

Well I phoned them up and they were not helpful and said it was faulty and that all I can do is get it exchanged for £131, Thanks Sony for deleting all my data
