3.5mm to 6.5mm jack [Problem]

Hey,

I bought my ASUS Xonar Essence STX audio card the other day. I installed it all correctly etc. I am using my Sennheiser PC350 headphones with them, these have 3.5mm cables. One headphone cable and one microphone cable.

The audio card actually comes with a 3.5mm to 6.5mm jack. This is where the problem lies.

I can plug the 3.5mm headphone cable firmly in to the 6.5mm jack but get no sound. When pulling it back out slightly I can hear sound on my headphones but it's very loose and results in the sound to cut in and out when there is movement.

Now obviously this is not ideal, I have bought a top of the range audio card and I can't even enjoy it properly. I ordered another 3.5mm to 6.5mm jack to see if it is just 'faulty'.

Anyone know any solutions to this or where I can pick up a 3.5mm to 6.5mm jack that will actually work?

Thanks for your time,

Hatton

Could be a dodgy adaptor I suppose. All 3.5mm to 6.35mm adaptors should work fine, but obviously there's always a chance something won't work as it should. Admittedly, there isn't much to go wrong with such a simple adaptor, but you never know.

If you have ordered another, then see how that goes. If you get the same problem, then it's got to be an issue with the card itself. If it isn't the adaptor, then I'd say it's a fault with the card, rather than something that has been configured incorrectly. You will know more when you have another adaptor to try.

I'm assuming the headset itself works fine, and you have tried it with another device? MP3 player for eg.

Yes, the headset works fine. I'm currently using it with the onboard sound instead. I will post an update once the adaptor arrives.

Ok I've got the new adaptor. Still having problems.

I plug it all the way in but only get sound to the left hand side of my headphones. When I pull it out a little bit I get full sound to both sides... but the cable is very loose and falls out with any movement.

I saw another thread where the person was having the same problem. He returned it and got a new one which then worked.

I'm going to return it. I'll update this thread once I received a replacement.
