3 8800GTX

got a 2nd pc wich has 2 8800gtx in sli using cooler master 850watt psu,is that enough to run 3 GTX in tri sli aswell as my other components?

The cooler master 850W PSU should be plenty enough to run those three 8800GTXs.

IIRC the maximum power draw from those 3 cards should be around 600W or so.

you would be running your psu on its limit constantly when gaming so on, it would work yeah, but I would`nt think it be 100% stable.

Three 8800GTXs would leave 150-200W for the rest of the system - far too close to the limit.

ok,i have 2 DVD drives,cd and floppy drive,i suppose i could unplug them to spare a few watts

I thought that you couldn't tri-sli 8800GTX, only 9 series cards. evidently I'm wrong, judging by replies int his thread.

If it has enough amperage on the 12v it'll be plenty.

AFIAK You can TRI-SLI 8800GTXs, but on Vista only ?

So far only te 8800 GTX and 8800 Ultra are capable of running triple-SLI. What else is needed to run triple-SLI?

- 3 Geforce 8800 GTX or Ultra cards
- a 3-way-SLI_Connectorboard (or as a alternative: 2 very short and 1 very long SLI-bridge)
- a mainboard with 3 PCI-E-x16-slots (680i or the upcoming 7x0i)
- the right Forceware driver (in this case 169.18 was used)
- a PSU that is strong enough to provide enough juice =)

Nvidia recommends using at least a 1,100W PSU. The Thermaltake Topower that was used in the test was really stressed. The kill-a-watt-device showed a total power consumption of 819W.

Wow - 819W? That's lot more than I expected, even for Ultras which are slightly more power hungry than the GTXs.

By the way, the ***** in the url above is: H.E.X.U.S (without the .s of course).

and lets be honest they're all almost entirely pointless given the massively diminishing returns.

maybe,maybe not.
as i said in the first post,will a 850psu handle it.not will it be faster than 2 other cards.
