3 8800GTX

Nvidia recommends using at least a 1,100W PSU. The Thermaltake Topower that was used in the test was really stressed. The kill-a-watt-device showed a total power consumption of 819W.

Killawattmeter is on the wrong side of the PSU. If you assume a top quality PSU with 80+ rating, then 819W at the wall only equates to approximatly 655W @ 80% efficiency. (655/819) + 100 = 79.95% efficiency. So an 850W PSU should handle that load ok.

All depends on how strong the 12v rails are.

Sucks to have that computer in summer, but in the winter it would make a pretty good "space heater". Just turn off the central heating and let the computer keep the room hot :) Probably wont cost as much as the heaters anyway! :)
