3 Builds

Ive spent a bit of time and came up with a possible 3 builds, originally my budget was about £800, though i can wait a few weeks and increase it to a litlte over 1k i guess. The machine is purely for gaming and gaming alone really. Any thoughts or advice is very much welcome :)

The first build, ive tried to spec for the future, or as far in to the future 1k will allow me to. Everything i put in to the bundle is perfect for OCing. I went for the ddr3 because i figured theres no point having a chip ideal for overclocking to 4ghz+ ( ive read that the chip can actually get to 5ghz on air). Also from what ive read is if i were to clock it to anything like this sort of speed, a ddr2 system is going to hamper it somewhat, afterall a pc is only as good as its weakest component.

The second build i went for a similar set up, but with a quad base to it. I know dual is superior ingaming right now, but i had a thought that if i am specing for now and into the future with ocing, maybe quad would be a better idea since games surely cant be too far off embracing quad.

Lastly i went for a cheaper "now" build, overclocking is possible on it i guess, but nowhere near to the same extent, its a ddr2 system but keeping the 8750, just not with the toxic - which again supposdly has great ocing features in it.

Let me know what you advise.

Thanks so much in advance :)

i'd go for the last spec as well. there's no need for the ddr3 as with an e8500 and a 9.5x multi you'd need to be clocking over 5ghz to be overclocking the ram at all.

Where's the i7 spec?

This really put me off the I7's for a gaming set up.

Thanks for the replies so far btw :)

I agree the 3rd spec for £300 cheaper is essentially the same set up as the 2 above it, since no game is going to make use of ddr3 yet, but the only reason i created the 2 above it, was the enormous room for oc'ing in them, is that not worth the extra?

Im also noticing a lot of people are putting 6gb+ of ram in new machines, is there any point in this at all? From a gaming persective i mean :)
