Hello all. I'm considering these cases and would welcome anyones opinion about which would be best for cooling please. Am not a big gamer and use my pc for photographic/digital still work - with possible video in the future.

One concern I have about a front fan is how much dust etc it would suck in.

Many thanks.

All three cases are most probably made of steel so cooling performance won;t be so good in addition to this the overall quality wont be too good, plus they all look tacky.

Best bet would be to get something like the case linked above :)

I can't afford the Antec so these 3 will have to do.

In terms of fan position which would be the best? A front fan? 2 side fans?

Thanks.

Do you know what size fan there is on the third case at the front? Any case with 120 front +120 back should give you all the cooling power you need :)

didn't think Galaxy III (which would mean having to buy one seperate) had a fan at the front (we sell them where i work *cough* Competitor *cough*)

If you mean the top case then it's 120mm and (I assume) 80mm in back. The 3rd case hasn't got a front fan.

Thanks for that :) , I thought front would be better.

yea was meaning the third, thats the name its given by the uk supplier ;)

almichev have u got an email addy and i can send u some other, slightly better quality cheap cases

Out of those three, i'd probably get the top one.

The middle one looks like those older Enermax cases, but with a Mercedes front? :p

Bottom one looks like a rip of a Coolermaster Centurion?

edit: I'm guessing they're all around £20-£30? I just saw this and it's fairly cheap, but with 2x 120mm fans http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-155-CM&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat=29

That's not bad. Would like a window side though, and some tacky, mid-life crisis leds :p

The steel Antec 900 can cool components far better than any aluminium Lian Li or Silverstone simply because of its design and fan placement. Aluminium makes next to no difference whatsoever, apart from making the case lighter. Airflow matters more.

Its common sense to know that steel is a poor conductor of heat ;)

Yes, but the case barely transfers heat through the panels. If it were one of those passive heatsink htpc cases, fair enough, but its not. The fans cool, not the case itself. It'll make 0.02 degree difference to temperatures.

what matters in cooling is to have good coolers and fans and a spacious and tidy interior ,in a manner that the air could circulate well

my Chieftech is a monster of steel (18kgs) + it is completely isolated with noiseblocker foam, and with the box closed and all fans at the minimum speed ( 7V) - and with a overclock of 69% in the cpu and fsb -I have these temps (ambient in the room is at 25 ° C)

note-with the pc only surfing the net and some DVD recording - cpu is almost idling
