3 Cores on q6600

on my Gigabyte P35, there's a setting in the bios which limits the "cores" to three for use in computers running Windows 2000, which doesn't support more than 3 processors unless you bought a fancy SMP version. check to see if he's turned it on. it'll be obviously named, like "limit to 3 cores" or something :)

Was on phone so couldn't check screenie probably.

Looking at it now would have to agree with you Aod!

There was a setting on the P35 DS3P that inadvertably disabled one core on some BIOS's. It might have been the hyperthreading option, or the virtualization/Vanderpool option. Probably the former.

Not sure if this is on XP, but worth checking. Start>Run>Msconfig>Boot/Advanced Options> and make sure the 'number of processors' tick box is deselected.
