I have a a8n32-sli-deluxe motherboard and a amd anthlondx64 4600 dual core processor. My motherboards user guide says that it can't support quad graphics. Would it be possible to run a 7950 gx2 card and a 7900gtx card?

If you're trying to go for some sort of "triple-SLi" option, it's not possible I'm afraid.

If you're trying to use one card (7950GX2) for one monitor and another (7900GTX) for another though, then it is. Nobody uses such a high-powered card as a second monitor card though, so I will assume this is not the case.

Have no Idea why you would want to run a GX2 and a 7900 GTX.

waste of time money and effort.

It serves no purpose and offers no perfromance gains.

In fact its a bit silly really. :p

Ok thanks for the advice! (I was thinking of having the 7950 gx2 basicaly 2 cards in one with the 7900gtx so the two cards or "three" would run in sli with 1 monitor)

I was looking to get a dell 24" monitor
for the same soft of money what graphics would you recommend?
Or is it just silly to spend that kind od money?

A single GX2 would be all you need.

so you think that 2 x 7900gtx in sli mode would not be woth the extra money?
If you can afford it then go for it. You should always get the best your budget allows or you'll only be annoyed at yourself later.

hmmm.. do you think i'll notice the performance difference on a 24" monitor?

I don't want to spend extra money if it will only mean 1 or 2 extra frame rates!

or a single X1900 XT could be enough for you depending on what games you want to run

( this is of course reading into your post that you havent already got either card already mentioned in your original post)

On a 24inch monitor id say SLI would be beneficial :)

Mayve get 2x7950GT though as that will save you about £100, or as easyrider says just get a single GX2 7950

No, I don't have any graphics cards yet for my new pc. I'm just very unsure what graphics to go for. I would like it to handle future games and all games out at the moment. I don't play a lot of games but thats because my current pc can't run the latest games.

I have run two 7900 GTx's in sli and the cost was not worth the extra 900 points in 3D mark 06.

GX2 is all you need.

Plus this leaves you the option of quad SLI in the future.

Thanks for the advice. Although my motherboard doesn't support quad graphics

*edit
Just read that it can but my user guide says it can't better aski in the motherboard forum.
