3 Long beeps

Hi guys my bro has just been given a pentium 3 that wont boot up it it does 3 long beeps before booting. It has a Gig of ram and a radeon hd2400 hes checked the gfx and tried different ram and now thinks it the cpu. But am i right thinking that if it was the cpu then it wont beep at all and not come on!

i think its RAM of the GPU. If your cpu is dead i dont think you get any beeps at all.

It could be the slot on the mobo thats faulty

get the mobo name and google " MOBO + post boot codes". They vary slightly but always good to know which one your dealing with.

Likely memory, could be the board itself though not reading the memory properly, i.e toasted.
