3 Mobile dongle broke, what are the chances of getting it replaced for free

Hello

I have a 3 mobile dongle with an 18 month contract which I am currently 5 months into.

My donlge broke last night and I am heading off to the shop soon to try and get it replaced.

So my question is do you think I could get it replaced for free?

If not would buying a £30 PAYG one and swapping my contract sim in work?

If it broke due to no fault of your own then they should be replacing it, if you broke it then call them and ask nicely.

You can pick these up for £19.99 and they will work fine :)
 
It depends on how it broke e.g if you knocked it and the usb bent then chances are they wont but if it just stopped working then you should be able to take it back and they'd replace it.
 
The first time I tried to get a dongle replaced from 3 it had just suffered a high velocity collision with the floor having just accidentally slipped from someone's hand. Needless to say the shop weren't willing to replace it.

The second time I went to get one replaced it was a software fault with the device and they happily replaced it, no problem.

If there are visible signs of damage on you dongle then I would say your chances are slim for getting it replaced yet there's no harm in asking. You don't ask, you don't get.
 
they should replace it. surely it has atleast a year warranty ?

if your laptops got a slot free inside then you might be able to get an internal 3g modem too.
 
We sold these where i used to work, often had people coming back in with broken units. If you've broken it accidently then they will not replace it. If it's a faulty unit and no damage can be seen, they should replace it for you.

As a replacement, any 3 dongle should work, you could just buy a cheap pay as you go one and put your sim card in it.
