Hi.

This is my first post so apologies if its in the wrong section.

Ive been a Three mobipe customer for over a year now and have had no problems with there service, but ive got a bit of a poblem with tethering. Im on the £15/m unlimited internet addon plan but this plan doesnt officially allow tethering. I tried tetherng on my windows 7 computer but they are able to detect it and I get throttled at 3pm until 11:59pm. The speed goes dwn from around 5 mbps to 0.20 mbps. I have found though that if I use my Ubuntu laptop they do not detect the tether. The speeds never drop at all. Maybe this is being because im using an android phone and android is based on linux or they are doing some sort of packet inspection on windows?

Does anyone know what could be going on here? Thanks.

you are taking a risk and can terminate your conract at any time. they will most likely use some simple or complicated detection techniques but they will not share it with the public. maybe there is a underground community out there where they discuss the possible detection tecniques used but it's a grey area and i dont think ocuk mods would approve of this discussion
