Hi all I am asking this now as I intend to get a new GPU soon.

At the moment I have x2 22" screens nothing special really and a 19" screen

I want to run all 3 screens from one GPU.

I see the new gpu`s have x1 dvi and x2 mini display ports.

Can I

Connect one screen say the 19" to the DVI
connect the other 2 22" screens to the mini display ports using a mini display to dvi cable?

I will only be using the 3 screens at the same time for web,painting,3d work etc etc

But when I play games I will only ever be using one of the 22" screens so the other two will not be needed as such.

I am looking at a

r7950 gpu or a 280.

Thanks

Cool

So only using one screen when gaming I will not be getting any GPU hit as I am only using one screen?.

Or will I take a small hit due to still having 2 other screens connected all be it not actually rendering the game?.

I have heard things about active cables or some kind of adapter but I also hear they are expensive or am I ok as I will not be gaming with 3 screens?.

You'll be fine, it'll be very minimal at all. I used to run two separate monitors along side my gaming monitor and it made no difference if they were or weren't connected.

The only thing I had was your card may idle at a slightly higher speed due to the extra monitors.
