Hey guys, something i've been looking into but am having trouble finding information on; running 3 monitors :D

I currently have 2 TFT running at 1280x1024, and want to add a 27" 720i HD TV (1280x720) into the mix so i can pop movies and my DVB tuner on it. I've seen that there are a few ways to get a third monitor working including the matrox dual/triple head thing, cable splitting and a PCI card, now because the res on the TV will be different the PCI card seems the only way to go... But I nee a little advice if you have any, currently have an AGP Radeon 9800pro, is there a specific card that would be best to go with this or is it just one of those trial and error things?

So if anyone else has 3 monitors and a 9800pro tell me how, any advice and or experience would be much appreciated :)

Stick with ATi for your PCI card to maximise you chances of avoiding compatibility problems. If you're willing to buy new graphics cards for multiple screen layouts then nVidia are advisable, although ATi can work just fine.

thought about using the tv out on the 9800Pro? works fine for me and I am sure you can then use 3 monitors without the need for a new card.

Could try that i guess, but I wanted to go for the full HD connection... Not sure how much difference there is... Might give it a try see how much difference there is between s-video and D-SUB before i decide which way to go.

aha, sorry must have over read that bit, but if you have the tv-out cable allready then you can give it a bash, I've only got an old crt tv so its not that great, but it works perfectly and you can fiddle about with res and stuff in ATI CC.

Pretty sure you can get it to run at HD (720?) through the tv out at a minimum.

I've used the s-video out before on my CRT, and the TV should be able to run the right resolution, might test it out first on one of the other LCD TVs we have in the house and see how it looks with the s-video and then with the D-SUB.

I cant believe that totally didnt register that I could test it on the other two tvs.
