Hi all
Back in July purchased the following kit from OC:
- Samsung SM2333SW 23" Widescreen LCD Monitor
- Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 LGA775 'Yorkfield' 2.66GHz 4MB-cache (1333FSB) Processor - Retail
- Corsair HX 520W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply (CMPSU-520HXUK)
- Asus P5QL Pro Intel P43 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
- Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (ST31000528AS)
- Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4670 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail
- Antec 300 Three Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case - Black (No PSU)
- Corsair XMS2 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2 PC2-8500C5 TwinX Dual Channel (TWIN2X4096-8500C5C)
- LG GH22NS40 22x DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM
- Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775)
All kit was working a treat until yesterday when I powered up and got nothing but a black screen. The PC looks like it is firing up fine but the screen is not picking up a signal and it never gets to load up Windows. I have not moved the base unit, and not near any moisture what so ever.
Thought it may be the monitors so plugged them into another PC and they work fine.
I have a power surge protected power board and have also tried the following:
- turning everything off from the wall for 20 minutes and powering back up
- removing the graphics card, powering up, logging off, inserting the graphics card and then powering back up
- removing the cmos battery, leaving for 20 minutes, reinserting the battery and powering back up.
- I have checked all wiring inside of the case and everything is fully attached as is - nothing has worked itself loose.
I thought it may just be the video card so I have plugged my itouch into the PC, thinking if it gets all the way to Windows then the itouch would automatically start syncing. Get nothing hence why it appears not to get to Windows (also when I have the speakers on I don;t get the signon chime that comes with Vista).
I suspect that it is either one of two things:
- graphics card has blown and PC is stuck at BIOS stage (is this possible).
- motherboard has died
Does anyone else have any thoughts about how to fix this problem or diagnose what the issue is? I am trying to get another graphic card to try to see if this is the problem. But if not - then lost.
As mentioned, PC is powering up fine, not making any beeping noises and not getting to Windows.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as bit bemused.
Thanks
