As long as they are both the same fan then that's fine as long as the header is rated to supply enough power. Check the power specs for your fans and mobo header and make sure the header can handle 2.
Makes no difference it will still control them however they will spin at different speeds and you'll only get the RPM of one fan, if your running the same model then they'll be running at the same speed anyway.
If it was me I would only connect one of the yellow sense wires to the mobo header to remove the risk of conflicting speed pulses being seen by the mobo. Just snip the yellow wire of one of the fans.
Cool. If someone was going to make their own soldered up splitter though, then you would want to do only use one of the sense wires, since he doesn't mention he is using a shop bought splitter and that. I would simply make one myself like.
