Hi guys,

I've got a 3 fan splitter cable (3x 4pin female connector, 1x 4 pin male and 1x 4 pin molex (power) connector. I need to connect a 3 pin fan connector to each 4 pin female connector, then the 4 pin male connector to Scythe Master Ace fan controller. I want to control my 3 fans on my radiator with one controller knob on the fan controller.

Each 4 pin female socket is wired differently (looking straight on):

1 Blue Blank Yellow Black
2 Blue Blank Yellow Black
3 Blue Green Yellow Black

The 4 pin plug is wired:

Blank Blank Green Blue

The 4 pin Molex:

Blank Blank Black x2 Yellow x2

The Scythe socket:

Blank Yellow Red Black

If I connect the Splitter 4 pin lug to the Scythe socket the wires connect as follows:

Scythe Blank = Splitter Blue
Scythe Yellow = Splitter Green
Scythe Red = Splitter Blank
Scythe Black = Splitter Black.

I can't see that this is going to work. Does it sound right to you?

Any ideas?

Your splitter is 1 x male to 3 x female? Unless I'm being silly I would have thought you needed a 1 x male power and 1x female 4-pin to 3 x male 4-pin

Assuming your splitter cable is the correct one then this picture explains itself. Presumably you would connect the 4 pin female on the right to your fan controller instead of the motherboard though.

The connection blocks have tabs on them so they only go in one way (the correct way).

That looks like the cable. I need the 3 females so that I can plug in each of the 3 fans which have male connectors. However, when I plug in the splitter male to the controller female the wires don't line up.

Pins on the connector = male, holes on the connector = female ;)

Does this look like the back of your controller, I got the image from the Scythe website.

Are you connecting the splitter to the correct input (6) not the power connection (3)? Otherwise I'm out of ideas

Aha, I figured that the big bit going in was the male lol. Maybe that's what I'm used to :)

That's the unit, I can't plug the splitter directly into the unit as the connector on the unit is really small. I'm able to plug the splitter into the cable that plugs into the unit though.
