3 Screens for gaming.

Man these 3 screen setups look absolutely fantastic! Having to purchase another couple of 22" monitors instead of using some old 19 inchers that I have would be a bit of a bind though. Hmmmm decisions decisions.
 
sorry to go slightly off topic, Ive got a related question.

Is the only way to make use of 3 monitors is to have 2 GFX cards ?
Ive bought a DVI splitter thinking I could attach that to one DVI output on the GFX card to feed 2 monitors and have another monitor off the other DVI output on the GFX card.
Although it appears with the splitter it just mirrors the output on both monitors :(

Is it a case of 2 GFX cards only to get 3 monitors working ? would I have to use the same 8800GT card again for this as well ?

Matrox make a product called TripleHead2Go, which allows the use of 3 monitors on a single graphics card port, meaning you can use the 2nd port on a graphics card for a 4th monitor if you want.

So no you dont need 2 graphics cards, but you will need extra hardware.
