So I have a 3rd 980 laying here doing nothing and was wondering if anyone has had experience with Z97 and 3 Way SLI ?

You know you need a Z97 board with a PLX chip to do 3way or 4way SLI right?
Of course Dice knows that![]()
The Xpower was released shortly after Z97 came out, was a couple weeks iirc. As PGI got it.
A couple of the Gigabyte Gaming boards do it such as the Gaming GT or Gaming G1 or the G1 Black edition.
I do and it is plx enabled to support 3 & 4 way sli. By all rights a beast of a board and probably the highest end board released on z97.
Runs my 780's at 16/16 3.0![]()

That does it I think, most ASUS "WS" boards have PLX chips for extra slots.
Nevermind it turns out I'm in luck, The Z97 Sabertooth supports quad SLI

It does, using two dual GPU cards
Not with 4 cards as it doesn't have enough lanes.
No.
That will be Quad SLI using dual GPU GFX cards (so 2 x GTX690/TitanZ etc) so technically the board is doing just 2 way SLI.
Not 3 x GTX970 or 4 X GTX980 etc.
