Hi guys,

im going to be setting 3 way display on my gtx 690,

What is the accessory display do? Can it show my whole desktop whilst the other three monitors are off

In simple terms it's just a 4th monitor, which isn't part of the Surround display, and use it to display a browser/mail, diagnostics etc - basically anything you want to keep an eye on while you game on the Surround screens. You can configure it how you like, so yes you can turn the other monitors off and use it on it's own.

In that situation you'd be best disabling your Surround monitors and making the accessory display your main monitor, and then reversing it when you want Surround.

No problem, good luck with it :) If you do go for Surround+Accessory just check out the Surround configuration guide for your card on the NVidia website. It shows you which monitor needs to be connected to which port.

For example I'm using 3xDVI for Surround and DisplayPort for accessory, but check out how you'd connect everything up based on what's allowed on the card, what inputs your monitor has etc :)

Cheers will that not be what Dell supplied with my Dell 2412m

Not sure.

My monitors only came with DL DVI cables.

If anything they'll provide a male DP to male DP cable rather than a male to male mDP -> DP cable but I don't know if Dell are more generous with cables :D.

Sorry my mistake I did not get dp cables with my 2412m but I have two from previous Dell u3011 not sure what they are lol what's the difference?

Make sure you get a DP to mDP cable and that your accessory monitor obviously supports DP. :)
