Occationally i'll press the power on button and nothing happens, it's as if the PC is dead. I'll unplug/plug the kettle lead back in and I can hear the 'crackle' so I know there is power - but it still won't turn on. I'll unplug from mains, try a different socket etc - eventually the PC will start up. There doesn't seem to be anything specific that makes it work.

I can play demanding games etc and it's fine, maybe every 3-4 days it'll just have this weird issue of not wanting to turn on until i've messed around.

Just now, it turned on fine and I was browsing the internet and the PC died. Complete power loss - I assumed I had a powercut but I hadn't. Again the same thing happened, mess around with leads/swaping sockets etc and it eventually came back on - i'm typing on it now.

Any suggestions? I thought PSU but the PC is fine during demanding games, when the PSU would be under load.

2070 Super / Ryzen 3600x

How old is the PSU? Make model & wattage please. have you checked the event viewer for possible causes?
It's an EVGA SuperNOVA 650w PSU. Just about to hit 3 years old.

Are there any sort of tests or procedures I can try to narrow down which part might be on its way out?

I haven’t got access to another PSU to test, which is annoying! I don’t want to start buying things and swapping them to get nil affect.
